Have you ever searched for an old campaign, but couldn’t remember its name? Or found it frustrating when campaigns from different teams are mixed together without any way of categorizing them?

Tags help you and your team organize, search and report on your email campaigns:

  • Add multiple tags to an email campaign, categorizing them into groups such as campaign type, department, team member or audience segment.
  • Combine tag filtering with the search bar to quickly find a campaign.
  • Use tags to compare the email results of multiple sent campaigns.

Keeping your email campaigns organized can be a challenge. And yet, organization is vital—you don’t have hours to search for past campaign examples, top performers, and seasonal or one-off sends.

By applying one or more tags to a campaign, you can categorize your emails into multiple groups, like campaign type, subscriber segment, or even by the team member responsible for the campaign. Tagging is also a great collaboration tool for teams that have multiple users designing and sending campaigns.

Let’s take a look at adding and managing tags in NestSend dashboard. You can apply and sort tags on the Campaigns and Automation Flow.

Create and organize tags in Campaigns

To tag a tag to a new campaign, please follow the steps below:

  1. On the left side bar > click Campaigns > Create New Campaign
  2. In the Tags section, write down the tag name to create a new one, or choose the existing tags from the dropdown list
  3. To add a new tag to an existing campaign

You can choose to either apply or remove an existing tag, or create a new tag, and all selected campaigns will be updated at the same time. Make sure to click Save once you’re done making changes.

Once you have tags set up, you can filter your campaigns by tag to find what you’re looking for.

To filter by a tag, click any tags next to the search bar and select all the tags you wish to filter by.

Now that you know how tagging works, let’s look at a few tips to make the most of this tool.

Taking a minute to plan your tags will help you save time later. Think through some of these scenarios to map out all the tags you might want to start with:

  • Tag by email type: If you send a variety of campaign types, list all the potential types, like monthly newsletter, daily newsletter, promo, or re-engagement campaign.
  • Tag by design: Maybe you send a mix of plaintext and designed emails—you could use tags to differentiate these. You might also think about using a tag like “test” if a particular campaign contained an A/B test.
  • Tag by designer or stakeholder: Maybe you have multiple team members using Campaign Monitor. Consider tagging by the key stakeholder, designer, or email manager to quickly find their specific campaigns in the future.
  • Tag by segment: Create names for your segments and apply those as tags.
  • Tag by season: Tagging by seasonal sends, like Black Friday, will help you refer back when that season comes around again.
